Indian Space Research Organization ( ISRO ) launched PSLV Mission

On Saturday (Nov 7), the Indian Space Research Organization ( ISRO ) has successfully launched its mission of Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV). The carrier PSLV C49 will deliver 10 satellites into space, of which EOS-01 is the main satellite.

EOS-01 is an earth observation satellite designed to provide agriculture, forestry and disaster management support. A total of 10 satellites, EOS-01 is the only from India and primary satellite of the mission, and the other nine are from foreign countries.

The launch took place from the Satish Dhawan Space Center (SDSC) in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. The ISRO event was originally scheduled to be held at 3:02 pm, but it was delayed by 10 minutes due to bad weather. Soon after lift-off, EOS-01 and all nine other customer satellites were successfully separated and injected into the Earth’s orbit.

The launch has won praise and good wishes from many people including India Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

This is the first mission launched by the Indian Space Research Organization ( ISRO ) this year, amid the global COVID-19 pandemic.

Given that SDSC in Sriharikota has imposed strict preventive measures for the coronavirus pandemic, gatherings of the media at the space center was not allowed during the launch of EOS-01. The launch viewing gallery was also kept closed. However, the live broadcast of the launch was available on ISRO official website (www.isro.gov.in), Youtube, Facebook and Twitter channels.
