Ontario Govt. to introduce Virtual Business Mission to India

The Government of Ontario will introduce a virtual business mission to India in December to promote the province as a major destination for international investment and to explore new opportunities for Ontario businesses.

The mission is led by Mr. Vic Fedeli, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade. According to him, the mission will build off the success of the province’s mission to India a year ago, which resulted in around 150 business to business (B2B) meetings. These meetings enabled Ontario companies to establish direct contact with Indian companies to discover new partnerships.

Mninster Vic Fedeli said, “Now more than ever, we must let the world know that Ontario is still open for business and open for jobs. Ontario-made products are recognized as the gold-standard across the country and around the world, and our province is one of the best places to invest and expand a business.”

“With this virtual tour, our government will continue to develop partnerships in strategic markets in India, which will help us build the foundation for recovery in the short term, and prosperity in the long-term,” he added.

A business delegation composed of 13 Ontario technology companies will join Minister Vic Fedeli at the India Mobile Congress, the largest digital and technology forum in India and South Asia regions. During the mission, Ontario companies will have the opportunity to virtually participate in business to business meetings and social events with many of major players in the Indian telecom industry.

Minister Vic Fedeli will enhance the province’s advantage at the proposed bilateral meetings with government and business leaders, including the state government officials of Karnataka, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.

The minister and the business delegation will also convey the messages to enhance commercial relationships to international audience at the events hosted by the Canada-India Business Council and the Indo-Canadian Business Chamber.

The two-way trade between Ontario and India was reached CA$ 3.4 billion last year. This year’s mission will focus on Ontario’s strategic sectors that enjoy competitive advantages in major global markets, including information and communications technology and advanced manufacturing. Ontario has a highly skilled workforce, competitive business costs, a world-class innovation system and access to global markets, so it can well explore and expand opportunities of trade and investment with India.
