Amazon India launches Benefits Program ‘STEP’ to help Sellers

E-commerce Company Amazon India has announced the launch of STEP, the benefits program which is based on performance and designed to help sellers in boosting their growth on Amazon.in.

The company claims that STEP will help in simplify the seller’s experience by providing customized and actionable recommendations that can help sellers improve key customer experience metrics, thereby improving their growth.

The company also said that by improving performance, sellers will be able to unlock benefits across multiple levels such as Basic, Standard, Advanced, Premium and many others.

These benefits include priority seller support, faster disbursement cycles, fee waivers and world-class free account management. STEP tracks sellers’ performance, growth and benefits in real time through STEP Dashboard on the Seller Central, making sellers responsible for their success on Amazon.in.

Starting from December 1, 2020, all sellers on Amazon.in will enjoy the ‘Standard’ benefits until March 31, 2021. From April 1, 2021, based on their performance, they will be eligible for Basic, Standard, Advanced, Premium and more from January 1 to March 31, 2021.

With the initiation of STEP, Amazon is introducing its revised fee structure, which was only applicable after Diwali. The revised fees will take effect on December 1, 2020 and are related to STEP levels, including the exemption of weight handling fees and lightning transaction fees, which are part of STEP benefits. Additionally, the transaction fee for products in the low price range (Rs 250 to Rs 500) will be reduced and the disposal fee for items shipped from the Amazon fulfillment center will be zero.

The company has taken several initiatives this year to help the seller community with over 700,000 sellers overcome obstacles and get their business back on track. Initiatives by Amazon.in include free COVID-19 health insurance (provided by Acko in cooperation with Amazon), relaxation in performance metric, on demand payment disbursement, exemption of inventory storage fees, and exemption of 50 per cent on ‘Sell on Amazon’ fees for small sellers and marketplace fee revision postponed to December 2020.
