Canadian Hockey League (CHL) announces Premiere Memorial eCup

The Canadian Hockey League (CHL), in partnership with Kia Canada and supported by veeZion, has announced on Thursday (Nov 19) that it is set to launch the premiere edition of the Memorial eCup presented by Kia. This will be an e-sports tournament that will feature 64 teams and all 60 CHL Member Clubs in Canada and the United States. In addition, 4 outstanding hockey personalities will serve as guest participants.

The tournament will start on November 28, 2020, with a set of 10 games and the final champion will be crowned on December 17, 2020. The tournament will start with a single elimination round, where the semi-final and final round will be played, and then players will be seen playing side by side in the best way for a three-player game.

Mr. Dan MacKenzie, the President of the Canadian Hockey League, has said in a press release, “We are very happy to launch this property and it only makes sense to do so with an innovative partner in Kia Canada.”

The development of games and e-sports provides new opportunities to maintain better contact with fans. This is also a fun way to give the players an opportunity to showcase their skills in a format that many people like in their spare time.

The interactive e-sports tournament will invite a player representative from all 60 CHL member clubs to demonstrate his gaming ability and competitive spirit in NHL 21 on Sony PlayStation 4. All matches will be broadcast on Facebook Live and Twitch, while encouraging fans and gamers to follow CHL.ca/MemorialeCup and visit across social media via #KiaCHLeCup.

The date and schedule of the Memorial eCup presented by Kia, as well as the complete list of guest participants and the reward information for fans, will be announced before November 28.
